Jose De La Luz Garcia

Garcia Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend, Jose De La Luz García, at age 82 of Las Cruces went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday May 24, 2012. He was born to Jose and Otilia Garcia on September 8, 1929 in Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of 18 Jose migrated from Mexico to the United States of America through the Bracero Program between the U.S. and Mexico during World War II. He worked in construction and paving many of our surrounding streets, roads and interstates. Jose enjoyed traveling, was an advid outdoorsman, story teller and loved to dance. Survived by his loving wife, Maria De Los Angeles Garcia; married for 59 years; sons Humberto Garcia and wife Lucy of El Paso, TX, Arturo Garcia and wife Donna of Franktown, CO and Jose (Joe) Garcia and Norma Martinez of Las Cruces, NM; daughters Irene Garcia-Paez and husband Robert of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Sylvia Garcia-Chavez and husband Gerardo of San Antonio, TX; sisters Maria Duque of Chihuahua, Mexico, Manuela Piñon of El Paso, TX, Ramona Garcia of Cuernavaca, Mexico, Agustina Tiscareño of El Paso, TX, and Graciela Garcia of Delta, CO. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Andres Garcia. “ La familia es una bendicion que se nos ha dado, que nos apoya cuando mas lo necesitamos.” A visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Tuesday May 29, 2012 from 5-7 pm follow by a prayer vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday May 30, 2012 at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
