Jose Lucero Salazar

U.S. Veteran

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Salazar family announces the passing of their beloved brother, father, uncle, and friend. Jose “Chemo” Salazar was reunited with our Heavenly Father in Heaven on Friday May 18, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Chemo was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed by NMSU and Dona Ana County. He loved spending time with family and friends. Chemo enjoyed watching all types of sports, and was a season ticket holder of the NMSU Aggies Men’s Basketball team. He was preceeded in death by his beloved parents Feliciano and Paula Salazar, and sister Mary Moreno. He is survived by his son Donnie Gonzales (Dolores); grandson Frankie Gonzales; sister Angie Salazar; three brothers Andres Salazar (Margarita), Juan Salazar (Lupe) of Las Cruces, NM and Tom Salazar (Mary) of El Paso, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, and will be remembered and remain in our hearts. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5pm to 7 pm at Getz Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 7pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10 am at St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Followed by a military honors ceremony at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he will be laid to rest. Pallbearers will be members of Chemo’s Family
